The Five Steps of Process Mapping

We set about improving processes by first analysing them and thoroughly understanding their characteristics before even considering any improvements. Process Improvements consist of five distinct phases:

1. Initiation of the exercise

2. Scoping of the exact nature and boundaries of the project

3. As Is Analysis of the existing process with all its problems

4. To Be “visioning” or “blue-sky” improvement ideas generation

5. Implementation of the refined and agreed improvements
