Things I Have Written
Book – The Shared Service Architects Business Case Toolbox by Alasdair Robertson & Dominic Macdonald-Wallace
Best quote from the book "If it's complicated it's probably wrong"
Alasdair RobertsonAlasdair has more than 15 years experience in improvement, efficiency and change in the public sector and multi-national private sector organisations. Alasdair brings a range of techniques to service design and specialises in analytics. These include simulation, financial and mathematical modelling approaches more commonly associated with larger multi-nationals as well as expertise in process design, change, re-structuring and governance issues. Above all however, his approach to service improvement and efficiency recognises that it is relationships, leadership, trust and a strong shared vision that ultimately predict success. Alasdair was a senior local authority managers and established the internal team for the highly regarded Mid Kent Improvement Partnership (Ashford BC, Maidstone BC, Swale BC, Tunbridge Wells BC and Kent CC). This pioneering partnership has achieved 20+% savings, and customer satisfaction gains, in a wide range of shared services through process design, improvements to management practice, best practice procurement and advanced analysis of service design. Alasdair's approach is to develop internal capacity among the client's own staff through coaching, training and support since this is the only sustainable route to value for money. Alasdair has advised a wide range of local authorities and other public sector bodies in developing transformation programmes and shared services. He has also delivered successful process improvement projects for a wide range of global clients. . Alasdair has a 1st class degree in Psychology from the University of Glasgow and an accredited Prince 2 project manager. He is an associate lecturer at post graduate level for the Shared Services programme at Canterbury Christchurch University and an associate of the Operations Research Society. About AlasdairAlasdair lives in Kent with his wife and family. He is a keen cyclist and climbed Mont Ventou in summer 2011 as well as taking part in sportive events.
